The Poddington Project: Christine DeWinter

"My Last Poem"

A pair of eyes, untamed and wild . . .
A bonny fairy princess child.
And with me once she laughed and smiled.

She runs amongst the forests now,
No mortal cares upon her brow.
And only I know once how

She ran beneath the sunlight bright--
Curls of gold catching a light
That glowed around her still, at night.

She was my best, my only child,
This bonny fairy princess wild.
Upon my sweet, the whole world smiled.

I hear her now, her voice so gay....
I know she runs still, far away,
Where there reigns eternal day

In lands where  is no mortal care,
No noisome troubles exist there.
Someday soon I'll meet her where

We both can run, untamed and wild,
Me and my fairy princess child,
Upon both whom our God has smiled.
